Cannon Fires in Trans Tasman

By day Sharon Cannon works as a Practice Manager at Napiers’ First Chiropractic Centre.  After work and on weekends however, she continues to hone her skills as NZ’s most consistent international petanque player of the past decade.

 

Petanque is the French game of boules (bowls) that many NZers have played as a past time.  A few however take it to the next level of playing the game as a sport.  The Hawke’s Bay enjoys having 3 Napier based clubs who have all had current or former NZ rep players, both at an Open and a Seniors (60+ years) level.

2010 Hawkes Bay Lawn Tennis Club Autumn Triples

Big Guns Sink Young Guns

In a repeat performance the "Big Guns" of Peter Horgan, Dirk Winnie and Georgio Vakauta maintained their favourotisim at the HB Lawn Tennis Autumn Triples Petanque tournament held this weekend. 

 

They defeated the pretenders to their throne, "Young Guns" Morgan Cheveaux, Nico Toyne, and the not so young Lee Taffard convincingly in the final 13 - 0.

 

The Horgan led team were in their 3rd consecutive finals appearance for the tournament where they were expected to repeat.............more


2010 National Club Champions: Bay View Petanque Club

It’s official, the Bay View Club is now the best in the country. Twice National Triples Champion, Hawke’s Bay’s Mr Petanque - Murray Porter, has been flying Bay View’s flag for well over 10 years – and now he can prove it.

 

Over the Anzac Weekend, Bay View defeated 10 other club teams from around the country to win the  National Petanque Club Championship and allow Porter to claim his 3rd National Title..........................more

Held on 13 December at the Manawatu Petanque Club. Wellington won a very exciting and close challenge.

  • Triples: Hawkes Bay 4 games; Wellington 4 games
