The FIPJP (International Petanque Federation) Rules or amendments are now ratified every four years (in the Olympic year), so the next update of the FIPJP Rules is due out in 2024.

PNZ has an active training programme for potential umpires. Starting with the Club qualificiation, an Umpire may progress to become a Regional, National, Confederation or International Umpire.

Once qualified, PNZ requires all umpires to be involved in ongoing training and to be actively umpiring, in order to remain as a qualified PNZ umpires.
